    Reviewer: Dan Hobson (September 2008)
After recording a Radio 1 session with Huw Stephens and playing both Reading and Leeds festivals this summer, 2008 has already proved fruitful for Leeds based quartet I Concur. With the imminent release of their single Oblige it could be an exciting year for these guys.

Oblige was in fact written almost three years ago, and expresses the pain & anguish of being in a band that's falling apart at the seams. The track starts with a fast, folky guitar intro, which builds up gradually into a Smiths style of playing (especially vocally) but still feeling cutting edge and modern. Oblige builds up and down gradually, but never loses the pace, with epic guitar towards the end I Concur definitely share the same spirit as a lot of Leeds bands presently.

B-side Captors sees the band move out of their comfort zone slightly, creating a more ballsy, post-punk number. Nicely arranged, this track keeps on rolling with some fantastic, educated but spooky lyrics such as: In a tug of war, cat & mouse, whatever you favourite metaphor, that's fine, hold it together, sew it together now. With tight guitars, drums and bass and some good ideas I Concur have put a good single out, well worth a listen!
