Indie music may have got so unfashionable that it might just start to become cool again. Helping the cause are
bands like The Dharma.
Incorporating the familiar rock n roll sounds of recent years with some retro sounds of years gone by, The Dharma
effortlessly create catchy, infectious three minuters that you could easily imagine on main stream radio.
That's not to say that this is sell-out, cringe worthy pop rock, that Kooks fans will go crazy for. I mean, they
probably will go crazy for it, but people with taste will like these guys too.
I Dance Like This begins with the up-tempo Yes, I Play Guitar. When it starts with dancey drums and knee-jerkey
guitar you wonder where they're gonna go with it. Then it breaks, and the perfectly executed chorus thunders in
with lyrics 'I just don't care for you at all', and believe me after one listen this line will be cemented into your mind.
I'm On Fire is another classic example of The Dharma's skill at knocking out proper radio fodder. With lots of repetitive
vocals, mentions to dancefloors, and some good backing vocals giving some attitude to the track. Anytime Anytime also has
to get a mention as the craftsmanship is just brilliant. With an awesome beat throughout, the drummer bashes out some
cracking rolls and fills through this one. With some lovely guitar work, and songs like musical fish hooks, this is a CD
that won't be leaving your mind for a while.
