Space Launched Beat Constructions emerged on the live scene back in 2000,
as the solo outlet for Paul Mills - a number of successful gigs took place, and in
2001 a seven track mini-album Agitech appeared on Un!Recordings. The release
received lots of enthusiastic reviews and radio plays.
2002 saw the introduction of DJ Copernicus Mugombe into the band, but with a few weeks
to go before his first appearance with SLBC, Coper broke his leg in two places, which
ruled him out for the rest of the year (and saw an end to his footballing career).
Eventually in 2003 the guys managed to start gigging together and a number of
increasingly well-received gigs took place.
Now it's 2004 and a busy release schedule awaits. On May 10th a four-track EP featuring
the most popular SLBC tune Token Love Number was released on Un!Recordings,
along with a remix by Dr Universalis and two other tracks: Nu-Definition and Live at
the End of Time (see reviews).
Another EP (Plastered) will follow in the summer and the long awaited album will be
released later in the year.
May 20th saw the return of SLBC to the live scene, kicking off at the Grapes, and an
appearance at All Things Electric coming soon, accompanied by the amazing multimedia
lightshow provided by Egon Sikorsky.
