Natalie B is an energetic and focussed transgendered artist from Sheffield whose excellent album
Rock & Roll En Femme was released towards the end of 2004
(read the review).
Natalie's musical interests go back to her childhood; she started studying classical music at the
age of 8. After playing in various orchestras and bands she took to the guitar, and
started writing and recording her music in 2003. Initially based around guitar riffs and melodies,
she has more recently introduced themes developed on the piano.
She specialises in rock guitar based music comprising both songs and instrumentals
(described very justifiably as transcendental melodies). As a solo performer it
can be difficult finding enough hands to play all the instruments you need, so Natalie
B has become adept at performing onstage with the aid of a sequencer. Towards the end
of 2004 she performed at the Torrington in East Finchley (London) as a guest artist,
and again in Scarborough - receiving an excellent reception. She is now keen to
perform on a more regular basis, so Sheffielders should soon have every opportunity
to see and hear this fascinating artist for themselves.
