The Volcanoes' 'Red Door EP' was reviewed for us by GC at the beginning of the year, and the band have generously sent us a copy of their latest CD, laying themselves open a second time to the possibility of damning criticism. But they're not going to get any. This is great music in the finest Indie Brit-guitar tradition, and deserves to be all over MTV2/Flux, or booming out from the main stage of any venue.

The songs are excellent, and really well played [though the mix makes you sit up at one point: there seems to be a simulated recording drop-out at the start of each chorus of Rings - but each time I listen to the track, the more 'right' it sounds!]. I love both the vocal and guitar harmonies, the riffs are really catchy, and the leads are both spot on. The pace is upbeat throughout, and the songs and percussion have more than enough hooks and variation to keep you interested throughout.

I can't wait to hear more!
