This six-track demo is excellent, both in its music and its production.

The Tonic describe themselves as a female-fronted five-piece playing "vocal-driven country-influenced rock", with such influences as Ryan Adams, Jeff Buckley, Fleetwood Mac and early Elton John. The progressive influence comes through strongly, though the music is in no sense derivative. Rather, the songs are well constructed, and show keen and well-practiced musicianship throughout. The opening track Fast Enough certainly wouldn't be out of place in an Album Chart run-down, the fifth track Coming Undone (which is in a slightly different style to the rest) would hold its own against most Singles, and the third, Love Gets Cold would be entirely at home in the Country charts. Overall, then, this may only be the band's demo, but there's already material here that would make this a welcome addition to many an appreciative music fan's CD collection.
