Lincoln town lads Hyper Snyper are a band that confused me slightly. And I'm gonna have to be careful how I word this review because they're actually pretty decent.

The music is reminiscent of older Brit-Pop and Indie sounds with a fusion of distinct modern-ness, and some cheeky electronics thrown into the mix.

The confusion lies with the vocals. I mean they're all good, but if this music is to be taken on face value, with the utmost of seriousness, then in my opinion they don't work. If however this music is taken with a pinch of salt, then they're potentially brilliant.

Okay now you're confused. I'll try a different explanation.

If you're familiar with the Flight Of The Conchords then you'll know that the songs are classic, but if you knew they weren't comedy songs, some of them just wouldn't work. It's a bit like that.

I have to say that one of the real selling points to this band is the guitarist. Especially on second track Feels Like Home he really rips it up. That's not to say the rest is flagging though. With some beefy bass lines and tight drumming Hyper Snyper have successfully created a familiar, yet distinctive sound.

An interesting listen.
