NeuVogue

Venue: Grapes (17 July 2003)
Reviewer: Jules Aimé (http://jules.dazautomatic.co.uk/)
Band: NeuVogue (http://www.neuvogue.plus.com/)

Someone, somewhere, somehow has taken NeuVogue out of the 1980s, but I doubt anyone will ever take the 1980s out of NeuVogue.

I could cut-and-paste a lot from a review of the last performance of NeuVogue I witnessed at the Casbar, but I didn't write one. It must be a testament to the quality of the songs, that I could remember them well, and this was only the second time I'd heard them. But that's what you get with NeuVogue - a great performance (particularly front-man Oliver Prime's vivacious portrayal of his character) and solid musical foundations, which prevailed despite the poor quality of the sound system.

Highlights of the night include: NeuVogue dealing with the technical problems at the start of the show in a professional manner; The Robot dancer - nice touch and the lyrics to this song are superb.

Lowlights of the night include: The sweaty smell of leather; The fact that NeuVogue's set seemed to be over too soon.
