Early in Kimeera's history the band gained a
reputation for things falling apart or going wrong at gigs. Chaotic live
sets where strings, drums, amps either gave up or were destroyed became the
norm. The most memorable night was when Richard leaped off the stage and hit
a giant mirror ball with his guitar, the band were dragged from the venue by
angry security and the band's equipment was confiscated until all damage was
paid for.
This confusion continued when Kimeera were featured as unsigned band of the
month on Kerrang.com. Photographs got mixed up and the article on Kimeera
featured a picture of four skin heads with tattoos while the photo of the
lanky Sheffielders was shown under a head line "sex with Satan's wife
shocker".
The band have many influences. Some show in the music, some in other ways.
Kimeera's sound has been compared to Nirvana, Sonic Youth, The Jesus Lizard,
...Trail of Dead, and Weezer and they describe it as "SLACKER-GRUNGE-PUNK".
History
Kimeera's first gig was in Feb 2001 and they've gone on
to play at most of the venues in Sheffield and supported many bands who have
passed through the city on tours. Highlight support slots have included Vex
Red, Ten Benson, Magoo, Tribute to Nothing.
Releases
Kimeera released a 9 song CD at the beginning of 2003. The
recording was done in only six hours and captures well the energy and
passion of the band.
